(Acrocinus longimanus)

It is a kind of longhorn beetle belonging to the family Longhorn beetle of the order Coleoptera.

It inhabits from Mexico to northern Argentina.

The biggest feature of the harlequin beetle is, as the name suggests, an extremely long front leg.

Males are about 7.5 cm long, but their front legs are 15 cm long.

By the way, the front legs of the female are not so long.

There has been a long debate about how to use the male front legs, but in the end it turns out that it is because the males fight each other.

In a male-to-male battle, the long front leg is hooked on the opponent's leg and thrown from the tree.

The winner was able to mate with the female, which seems to have strengthened the long traits of the front legs.

And the real thrill of this longhorn beetle is the pattern on its back.

Local Indians are also using this design for their decorations.
