It is a companion of a large-sized Ititombo with a white crest on the long body.

It seemed like a graduation of the body like a graduation, it is like a ruler so this name got attached.

Male is pale blue-green, and female has yellowish color.

Aquatic plants in plains and hilly areas grow abundantly, live in ponds where fallen leaves have accumulated, and like a dimly lit environment such as grove near the shore.

It is also distributed normally in urban suburbs.

 

Tandem flight connected by male and female in dragonfly is often observed. It is not a warm hearted figure that is acting in a friendly manner after completing the mating, but the mating of not letting the female who completed the copulation freely release (to guard against other male) It is part of a very important breeding strategy by the later male. There is also a species group that extends to spawning while being linked, and it seems to be an evolved behavior to acquire more reliable paternity.

 

This time we reproduced the appearance of such spawning eggs.

細長い胴体には白い紋がある大型のイトトンボの仲間です。

体の節が目盛みたいに見えて、まるでものさしのようなのでこの名前がつきました。

オスは淡青緑色で、メスは黄色っぽい色をしています。

平地や丘陵地の水生植物が繁茂し、落ち葉の堆積した池沼などに生息し、岸近くに木立などのある薄暗い環境を好みます。

都市郊外にも普通に分布しています。

 

トンボにおいてオス・メスが連結したタンデム飛翔がよく観察されます。交尾を終えた後も仲良くつがいで行動しているのは、ほのぼのとした姿ではなく、交尾を済ませたメスを自由に解放させられない（他のオスに奪われないようにガードする）という交尾後のオスによる極めて重要な繁殖戦略の一環です。連結したまま産卵にまでいたる種群もあり、より確実な父性を獲得するために進化した行動でああると思われます。

今回はそのような連結産卵の姿を再現しました。
